Diagnostic Wax-Ups

Diagnostic Wax-Ups (FREE to Bay View Customers)

The dental wax-up is the method or process through which the practitioner can fully visualize the true restorative needs of their patients. In fact, it is one of the greatest working tools in our profession. At Bay View Dental Lab we understand the true value of this service to clients. We can share our expertise and make suggestions on materials, case design, sequencing, equilibration, and estimates. The functional diagnostic wax-up is included as part of our restorative fee (either analog or digital). We can also provide case presentation wax-ups for an additional fee.

FUNCTIONAL FULL CONTOUR WAX-UP

The full contour wax-up is used when improved esthetics and contours are included in the treatment plan. This aids in developing an overall game plan for restorative procedures.

CASE PRESENTATION WAX-UP

The case presentation wax-up is generally requested to show the end result as realistically as possible. There is an additional fee for case presentation wax-ups.

DIGITAL DIAGNOSTIC WAX-UP

The digital diagnostic wax-up is much the same as the conventional wax-up on a stone cast, however, it is designed digitally based on the intra-oral scans and digital bite supplied by the dentist with the resulting final product being a printable file that can either be produced in the lab or sent directly to the doctor’s office. Stone casts are still the gold standard in producing the most functionally accurate diagnostic wax-up, but we continue to evolve this process and are comfortable with either method.
