My wife, Joyce, and I had the good fortune to be invited to the open house for the new Dawson Academy offices in Florida last week. Several hundred guests including friends, faculty members, city officials, and patients were in attendance for the ribbon cutting and official dedication. The beautiful building in downtown St Petersburg, FL is also the home of Dupont and Wilkerson Dentistry, the home of Drs. Dewitt Wilkerson and Glenn DuPont, as well as the perio/ortho practice for Dr. Ron Kobernick. All are great friends and I have to say their new home is beautiful.
The mayor of St. Petersburg, Bill Foster, was on had for the official ribbon cutting. There were plenty of other VIPs in attendance. I had the pleasure of running into Dr. Pete Roach for the first time in almost ten years. Dr. Roach said he was playing golf at least 5 days a week and loving the retired life. Mark Piper was there too, he will be doing a splint course up here in Virginia next year which we are very excited about. The new Dawson Academy conference facility was beautifully equipped with large comfortable chairs and state-of-the-art audio visual equipment. Everything was beautiful. Dr. Dawson seemed more than satisfied with the final outcome.
The faculty were also treated to a special program in the morning from Karl Hegyi on Provasive, a new and innovative restorative treatment system. It looked like a very interesting and useful option for some cases. I’m eager to try our first case with it. The Dawson Academy courses will continue in the new Florida facility through next year, we wish them all the best. There is a special Dawson alumni meeting scheduled for early March. If you’re attending, I’ll see you there!
